Hello My Name is ……
Katrina and I’m the first to tell you I don’t have all the answers to why I started this online magazine about Mount Morris Park, Harlem, gifts and all things cool. Sometimes I just don’t have all the answers and I’ll trust my gut is right and everything will work itself out.
I’ve been in Harlem since 1988. And I can say the past 15 years have been a ride on the Scooby Doo van roller coast at 100 MPH.
Married Mark, had a premature pregnancy (27 weeks) quit my HR job at Columbia U., opened/sold a top 10 flower shop, lost my father, purchased a home, opened gift shop, did I say I was married? and reached my mental edge – you know what I mean.
Along the way – I’ve met so many cool (and sometimes crazy) people that has made my life in Harlem…meaningful.
But I would say, PURPOSE is the reason for this magazine. I feel I’m in Harlem for a purpose. I feel everyone in Harlem is here to help each other deal with the struggles of gentrification, raising new families, creating a higher quality of life and living Oprah’s Best Life. Its such an interesting period in Harlem’s history. I feel blessed to be here and live among such fascinating people.
Honestly NiLu, as named after my sons Nigel and Luke, is not about selling random gift stuff or writing mindless blogs but it to share all good things, people and places in Harlem.
Life is good in Harlem. And this magazine will tell the stories and share useful stuff about
How did this About Us sound?
Remember I don’t have the answers. I’m expecting you to chime in right about now so don’t be a Debbie Downer — speak up!
