Tamara Madden was a Jamaican-born, American-raised, mixed-media artist and professor of art and visual culture at Spelman College in Atlanta. Taking inspiration from her homeland, Gustav Klimt, and Milwaukee artist Ras ‘Ammar Nsoroma—among others—Madden often depicted powerful Black women of the African diaspora, royal and draped in elaborate headdresses and lavish ensembles. Madden struggled most of her adult life with chronic health issues, and turned to art for a semblance of normalcy and relief. She tragically died in 2017 at the age of 42, but her work lives on to represent her strength and unique point of view. The 12 images in this calendar offer a window into her inspiring life and legacy.

You can skip the shipping fees with free local pickup at 191 Malcolm X Blvd Harlem New York between 119th and 120th street.

OMG 😱 it's an explosion of culture, history and scents in there. I could still smell the lovely scent in my jacket when I left... like 2 blocks down and it's welcoming aroma still lingered. Wow! They've got so much stuff in such a tiny place and it's all strategically & perfectly organized. It gave off all kinds of future customer vibes in my mind.
